Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan says this government plans to enforce the death penalty in the Maldives.
Answering a question fielded by a reporter at a press briefing today, Minister Ihusan assured that the new government would enforce the death penalty in the Maldives.
The Minister said that currently, the government is working on the legal avenues related to enforcing the death penalty per the laws and regulations of the Maldives.
This is the first time the government has indicated that it would enforce the death penalty. Though many criminals have been given death sentences in the Maldives, the country is yet to enforce the death penalty for any convicted criminals.
However, more and more henious crimes have increased in recent years especially gruesome and senseless murders.
Minister Ihsan seems to not understand that the jails are currently working in full capacity. But there is no budget even for water bill at the custodial jails. Dhoonidhoo is overflowing with "enforced" gang violence after these years. They have created dissent between gangs from east male', and now the two peaceful gangs in the west of male have had a clash few nights ago. These are kids. They are confused and are not understanding why they are now in conflict with their friendly neighbours. It's easy; just knife a senior person from a group, then the revenge cycle begins. Maldivians!!, my dear brothers and sisters. Chaos has always been the best friend of politics. With chaos will come the control. Vampires who were drug users themselves have made their way into the treatment system, hijacked a UNODC program and is killing poor addicts to silence the truth. MTT , or methadone program is been used to further create dissent and currently all patients who have been clean and living productive lives with the help of methadone have been forced to go bak into heroin. The country is seeing the first signs of a fentanyl in our society. A whole state of united states have been desolated by fentanyl bay the Mexican cartels. Who are we to get a better outcome. Our kids will have to go forced HIV and Hepatitis blood checks before they even date someone in the next 10 years. God help us!
