Former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Moosa Manik (Reeko Moosa) has decided to compete in the MDP Primary for the Maavashu Constituency.

He announced this via a post on X.

Reeko Moosa said that he was working with the hope that he would be able to serve on the 20th Parliament.

Formerly he was the MP for the Hulhuhenveriu Constituency on the parliament and also acted as the Chairperson of MDP.

But his time with MDP has been troublesome as back in 2014 the party decided to expel him and in 2016 they requested the Elections Commission to remove his name from the party registry.

In 2017, he joined the then-ruling party PPM but left the party as he missed the chance to compete in the 2019 Parliamentary elections on the party's behalf.

The former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament rejoined MDP in November of last year.
