Former MDP Chairperson Ali Waheed has rejoined the Party.

In a post on 'X', the former Tourism Minister said that after 7 years and 7 days, he has returned home to be a proud member of MDP.

He went on to say that he would work hard for the victory of the party, the country, and the Maldivian people. He shared a 45-second video clip showcasing his work in MDP as a leader within the party.

The former Chairperson of MDP resigned from the party during the tenure of former President Abduallah Yameen and joined the Jumhooree Party.

Ali Waheed was the former Tourism Minister under the MDP Majority government. However, he was forced to resign from his job after allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment were made against him by several female employees who work under him at the Ministry.

He then traveled to the UK after his passport was released under a court order.

The allegations against Ali Waheed never materialized as criminal charges and under the Presidency of Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the Prosecutor General's Office said that it would not be pursuing charges against him.

Ali Waheed returned to the Maldives after and joined JP Presidential Candidate Gasim Ibrahim in his Presidential Candidate. Ali Waheed was Qasim's Election Agent in the election.

After the defeat in the Election, Ali Waheed resigned from JP and said that he would focus on football coaching and would stay away from politics.
