Maldives Democratic Party MDP and Adhaalath Party have kicked off talks to keep working together for the upcoming elections.
MDP said that the two parties plan to hold more talks in the future to see what the two parties can achieve together in the coming elections.
Adhaalath has been working alongside MDP since 2015. It was a coalition partner of MDP back in 2018 when it came into power and remained at the side of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for his five-year term.
Adhaalath also opted to remain in a coalition with MDP for the 2023 Presidential election and supported Solih's bid for re-election.
The Parliamentary election is the next major election scheduled in the country. The election is likely to be held after Ramadan.
The Holy month of Ramadan falls on the 10th of March 2024.
