Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Aslam says he would complain to the Parliament's Committee on Member’s Privileges and Ethics after the MP for Kaashidhoo Constituency broke the mic on his table.
Speaking at the beginning of today's session, the Speaker said that MP Jabir damaged the mic on his table at yesterday's session. He said that he had been informed by the Parliament secretariat that it would take MVR 5,100 to replace the mic.
Aslam said that he would file a complaint with the Ethics Committee about Jabir's conduct.
This would be the first time such a complaint would be made to the 19th Parliament's Committee on Member’s Privileges and Ethics.
Though there have been several incidents of misconduct from members of the parliament no complaints have yet been made to the Ethics Commit.
MP Jabir is also facing reprimanding action from his party after he went against the MDP three-line whip for the vote held to elect the new Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
