Police have confirmed that three people were seriously injured in an accident that happened in the capital Male' last night.
They said that the accident occurred near Villa College around 11:36 p.m. and that the incident happened when two motorcycles crashed into each other.
Police said that three people riding on the two cycles sustained serious injuries and that they were rushed to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital IGMH for treatment.
Citing the hospital, the Police said that all three victims remained in critical condition.
Police did not give any more details about their injuries but said that they were further investigating the crash. No arrests have been in relation to the accident.
A number of traffic collisions have occurred in the Greater Male' area this week and one such crash has already been fatal.
The fatal crash was reported in Hulhumale' when a car crashed into four cycles near Central Park. A husband-wife duo was critically injured in the crash and on Tuesday the husband succumbed to his injuries. The wife is also reported to be in critical condition.
Police arrested the driver of the car and his remand custody had been extended for 7 more days.
