A cylinder explosion in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhufushi Airport has injured four.
The cylinder that exploded was being used in training exercises by the Airport Fire and Rescue service.
Officials say the four individuals who were injured have been rushed to the Kulhudhufushi regional Hospital for emergency treatment.
Media official at the hospital Mohamed Moosa said to 'The Press that 3 men and 1 woman were injured in the incident and that all four individuals worked at the Airport Fire and Rescue services. He said that the victims were brought in around 11:00 a.m. today.
He further said one man sustained serious injuries in the explosion and that the man was undergoing surgery now.
Moosa added that the rest sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Maldives National Defense Force MNDF said that the explosion happened when they were filling gas into fire extinguishing cylinder on the airport.
