The Democrats Presidential Candidate MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency Ilyas Labeeb says the party will decide who to support in the Presidential run-off after holding counsel with its supporters and council.
While the first round of voting in the Presidential Election was held yesterday, PNC Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu claimed victory with 46.02 percent of the ballots cast.
President Solih managed to secure 39.09 percent of the total vote which means that he would be competing against Muizzu in the run-off as both are the two candidates with the highest votes.
Both camps are likely to court Democrat Candidate MP Ilyas Labeeb who secured 15,453 votes in yesterday's first round of election.
Speaking at a press conference today, Ilyas said that during his campaign trips to the Atolls, many asked what he would do if he got third highest votes in the election.
He turned the questions to those asking him to decide saying that it is important to be clear on what his supporters want.
Ilyas said that the Democrats would decide who to support in the run-off after holding discussions on the matter with its supporters and the party's council.
He assured that the party would decide on the matter soon but insisted that the Democrats have not started talks with any party as of yet.
