Home Minister Imran Abdullah says he spoke about PNC Candidate Dr.Mohamed Muizzu last night because he knows him very well.
This comes after many on social media criticized Minister Imran for his comments about Muizzu, who was targeted in several speeches given at the MDP Coalition's mega rally held in Male' last night.
Addressing the huge crowd last night, Minister Imran said that even if Muizzu came into power, jailed ex-President Abdullah Yameen would remain in prison and that Muizzu was praying in his heart for a jail sentence against Yameen when the sentence was issued.
Further aiming insults at Muizzu, Imran said that under former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik's rule, he gave the post of Housing Minister to Muizzu because he kept 'begging' for the post and that under Yameen's rule, Muizzu appealed to MDA Leader Ahmed Siyam for the post.
Many on the social media platforms ridiculed the Minister for his comments and many asked if Imran forgot how Muizzu was spending on Adhaalath's office from his own pocket.
Speaking about the backlash, the Minister said via 'X' (formerly Twitter) that many have been messaging him after his comments on the PNC Candidate last night.
He said that he spoke a bit about Muizzu because he knows the PNC Candidate very well. The Minister further justified his comments by saying that it is encouraged for those who have knowledge of something to educate others on the matter.
