Islamic Minster Dr. Ahmed Zahir confirms that the Ministry has filed a report at the Police urging them to investigate 'Spiritual Healing' classes organized by a Hindi Guru in Male'.
Promotional material on Social media says that the sessions will be held in Male' today and tomorrow at the Unima Grand Hotel in the capital. It also said that the sessions would be taken by a 'Spiritual Guru' named Dr.Ganesh Dubey.
The material said that the Guru is holding offline classes in the Maldives and will help those who attend to discover profound teachings and find solutions to their problems. It also said that there were free spots for the sessions and urged those interested to call and reserve their spots.
The Minister said that promoting such classes goes against the Protection of Religious Unity Among Maldivians Act and that the matter has been brought to the attention of the Police.
It is unclear whether the Police have begun their investigation into the classes.
Meanwhile, Unimaa Grand issued a statement today saying that it was not informed of the sessions being held at its premises and that they have now checked out the Guru and another guest for disobeying its rules.
