PNC Presidential Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu promises to expand Gaafu Alifu Gemanafushi land and further develop the island's harbor.

He made the pledge while speaking at a campaign rally on the island today.

Muizzu said that he was a person who strived to fulfill any pledges that he made and that his actions would always match his words.

He recounted that back in 2012 when he was working in the housing ministry, a delegation from the island met with him and requested the government to build the island's harbor. Muizzu said that back then the government developed the island according to the people's wishes.

Noting that the island's harbor plays a vital role in its thriving fishing sector, Muizzu promised that he would once again develop the harbor just the way the people want.

Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, further said that such an island would need additional infrastructure and that he would develop the major roads of the island and conduct reclamation projects for housing and fisheries purposes.

The PNC Candidate further said that even though he cannot travel to all the islands of the Atoll due to time constraints, he would listen to the concerns and needs of all the islands just the same.

He also highlighted that he had no doubt that the people of Gemanafushi would support the work to free former President Abdullah Yameen from prison.
