Independent Presidential Candidate Umar Naseer reveals that he has been receiving death threats as the Presidential Campaign intensifies with less than two weeks to the election.
He said via social media platform X that he has been receiving threats from drug lords. He then went on to share some of the comments made by an online user on his content.
The user goes as far as to threaten to stab Umar in the neck.
Umar said that he has brought this to the attention of his security details appointed by MNDF as the law requires all the armed forces to appoint security for all the Presidential Candidates.
The former Home Minister had promised hardline solutions to tackle the drug problem in the country which some say has angered the drug lords in the country.
Umar was attacked earlier this month while on a campaign rally in Hulhumale' Phase I. His personal security said that an individual had thrown a rod that hit his face and that the perpetrator was also from a drug gang.
Police launched an investigation into the incident and the Elections Commission has expressed concerns over the incident which it described as an uncivil act.
