PNC Presidential Candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu pledges to clear all outstanding parking fines of all citizens if he wins the September Presidential election.

Speaking at a campaign rally last night, Muizzu, who is also the Mayor of Male' City, said that this administration refused to grant permission to develop a parking building or area in Male' and that it has failed to address the issue of lack of parking space but kept on fining for illegal parking.

Noting that the government rolls most revenue from fines, Muizzu said that issuing fines is included in the state budget. Muizzu said that this administration pledged not to issue parking stickers without developing adequate parking areas.

He further said that these parking sticker fines were not just and that he would clear all outstanding fines if he came into power.

Muizzu said that the government hindered City Council's attempts to develop parking buildings in Male' and that if he came into power he would continue with the project to build multi-story parking buildings in different locations in Male'.

He said that these buildings can house taxis as well as private cars and motorcycles. He further detailed that he had planned to build parking areas in 6 different locations in Male' and had also set up a huge land plot for the purpose in Hulhumale'.

But he said that the government has halted the project and went on to promise that he would resolve the parking issue in Male' and Hulhumale'.
