Indian media reports that a Maldivian man has been arrested for harassing two female cabin crew members on an IndiGo flight from Male' to Bangalore, India.

The reports identified the suspect as 51-year-old Akram Ahmed who was traveling to Bangalore for medical treatment.

The 'Indian Express reported that the suspect was arrested at Bangalore International Airport last Friday after the Flight Manager filed a police complaint when the incident was reported.

The Flight Manager reported that the incident happened aboard the 3;45 pm to 6:00 pm IndiGo flight 6E 1128 from Male to Bangalore.

The Express reported that the suspect requested a cabin crew member soon after take-off and then went to order beer and nuts from the 21-year-old cabin crew member.

It further said that the man then made inappropriate comments towards the cabin crew member and then allegedly went on to pay USD 100 for a USD 10 beer can and asked the cabin crew member to keep the change. The report said that the woman objected but was then harassed and then inappropriately touched by the accused.

The Indian media report also said that the Maldivian national harassed another female cabin crew member and got up from his seat three times, summoning cabin crew members each time.

The report further said that the suspect was handed over to Airport security personnel right after the plane landed in Bangalore and Indian police also confirmed the arrest.

It said that the suspect was taken under judicial custody and that he said in court that the flight attendants on the plane were 'too attractive' which made him ask them for 'favors'.

Local authorities in the Maldives are yet to confirm this arrest.
