Newly formed The Democrats promises to provide housing and give an allowance to those who migrate from the capital Male' as the party unveiled its Presidential Manifesto last night.
The manifesto of party Presidential Candidate MP for Hulhudhoo Constituency Ilyas Labeeb was unveiled at a ceremony held last night at the Sultan's Park.
The Democrats Manifesto includes five parts which are;
- Business, Economy, and financial reform
- Decentralization changes and governance
- Housing, drug rehabilitation, education, and Health
- Entertainment, arts, culture, and sports
- The justice system, national security, and foreign policy
For housing, the party promised to give a housing subsidy as social security for those households who spent 33 percent of their net income on rent.
The manifesto also encourages those living in the crowded Male' City by giving them a settlement allowance and housing opportunities.
The Democrats manifesto further included plans to establish a system that easily provides mortgage financing to those eligible and without discrimination based on where they are originally from.
It further promised to stop construction projects headed by the central government, cease housing projects by the government and state-owned companies and make the island councils carryout these projects as part of the decentraliztion policy.
