Planning Ministry says the government has decided to award flats to all the applicants that met the criteria for its housing scheme, 'Gedhoruveriya'.

The Ministry said this after publishing the temporary lists of applicants to the scheme and the lists indicated whether or not the applicant met the criteria for the scheme.

It said that before publishing the permanent list of flat recipients, it would be conducting house visits to verify the living conditions of those who have met the criteria for the scheme.

The Ministry also said that if it is unable to verify the information of an applicant, it would act according to the signed conditions included in the Flat Application form.

It urged all to give their full cooperation while the Ministry verified the information.

The Planning Ministry also invited those who wish to lodge complaints against the Temporary list must make their submissions before the 22nd of this month.

A staggering 20,679 people applied for the housing scheme that aims to provide affordable housing to the residents of Male'. This includes 14,489 individuals who applied for three-room flats and 6,208 who applied for 2 room flats.
