Police have launched an investigation into allegations of a minor being sexually harassed in the Hiya Flats on Phase II of Hulhumale.
A police official informed the Press that a case of sexual harassment of a 14-year-old girl was filed at the Police last night and that Police have now launched an investigation into the matter.
Sources have said that the individual who is suspected of the crime has now been taken under police custody but the Police have yet to confirm this.
The girl's family joined the Police in their search for the alleged suspect and last night they gathered on the 9th floor of Hiya Tower 11 where the individual lived. The victim's family also went to the Hulhumale Police Station to give their statements.
Some sources have said that the suspected individual suffers from mental illness but this have not been confirmed by the Police.
The reported incident occurred around 12:00 am last night.
