Police have arrested two Maldivians with 24 cans of alcohol.
They said the suspects were arrested after they carried out an operation based on a tip that informed the police that individuals were transporting alcohol in a car from Hulhumale to male.
Police said that the two were arrested after officers were forced to initiate pursuit of their vehicle as they ignored police commands to stop their vehicle as they arrived in Male' from Hulhumale'.
Police said officers from Galolhu ward finally stopped the vehicle and that the suspect's car was stopped at the Seagull junction.
They further said that the suspect ignored police commands to stop their vehicles and threw a plastic bag from their car while they were being chased. Police said that 24 cans of alcohol were found in this bag.
They said that the suspects were 21 years of age.
Police added that its Drug Enforcement Depart was further investigating the case.
