MP for Maavashu Constituency Mohamed Saeed accuses the ruling party MDP of sabotaging the parliament as another session of the legislative house was abandoned today due to disruptions from the MPs present.

In a tweet, MP Saeed said that Opposition MPs were denied a meeting with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih today. He said that they wanted to share several concerns with the President.

He said that this includes parliamentary sabotage by the ruling party remains crucial as the gov majority in the Parliament purposely disrupts sessions to avoid AG and Foreign Minister’s no-confidence motion

Today's session was halted twice by the MP for Vilifushi Constituency Hassan Afeef who was leading the session today. He appeared to have lost control of the parliament as MPs kept interrupting each other by taking a point of order and talking over each other.

The main issue was that agenda item number 6.1 which was the motion on the change being brought to the compositions of the Standing Committees in terms of MPs representing political parties and independent MPs.

While the MPs representing the ruling MDP looked to push on with the agenda item, independent MPs and MPs from the opposition were seeking to further disrupt the proceedings.

Bizarrely MP Afeef concluded the session shortly after answering a phone call on which he was heard saying that he was finishing up the session.
