Police have arrested a man for allegedly growing a cannabis plant in a house in Male'.
Dried flowers, leaves, stems, and seeds of the cannabis plant are also referred to as Marijuana.
Police identified the suspect as a 29 local man.
In the court order issued for the suspect's arrest, it was said that Police noticed a cannabis plant at a house in Male'. It was reported that a man had approached the Police while the officers were investigating the scene and claimed ownership of the plant.
The man reportedly said that there were more cannabis plants on the balcony of his house.
The suspect also said that he would fully cooperate with the Police on their investigation and that he had no problem with the Police searching his house.
But the suspect later went back on this statement and refused to give permission to the Police to conduct the search. The suspect also accused the Police had damaged his property while conducting their search and also physically hurting him.
