Home Minister Imran Abdullah says the rights of jailed former President Abdullah Yameen has not been denied nor has his dignity been tarnished while in prison.
This comes after President of PNC Abdul Raheem Abdullah made accusations that there had been cameras installed in the toilet used by the former President while in prison.
Speaking at a press conference held by the opposition coalition last night, he said that cameras have been installed in Yameen's toilet as well as his room, sitting room, and the hall designated for the former President.
He mentioned that Yameen's family had appealed that he be transferred to his home in Male' because of his medical conditions but have been denied their request. Abdul Raheem added that the people of the country have not seen a more cruel and tyrannical government than the current administration.
In response, Home Minister Imran said via Twitter that Correctional Officers know that President Yameen is the inmate who has been afforded the most service while in prison.
Imran, who was jailed during Yameen's tenure, said that his conscious would not allow him to make any order that would deny the former President his rights or tarnish his dignity.
Yameen is currently serving an 11-year jail conviction after he was found guilty of money laundering and bribery in the Aarah case back in December.
