Police are collecting DNA and fingerprint evidence from some inhabitants of Noonu Atoll Manadhoo in relation to the investigation into the mysterious death of Naeema Moosa who was found dead in her home earlier this month.
Speaking to 'The Press', President of the Manadhoo Council Abdurrahman Sobeeh said that Police have been collecting DNA and fingerprint samples from many people on the island and that this was in relation to the investigation into Naeema's death.
He said that Police had begun collecting the samples last week and urged all the inhabitants of the island to cooperate with the police in their investigation.
Sobeeh further said that Police have taken samples from different age groups and that they are not taking the samples because they have suspicions about anyone but for the purpose of the investigation only.
He added that the people on the island have been fully cooperating on the matter.
The 62-year-old was discovered in her home where she lives alone after her family reported to the Police that there had been no contact with her for two days.
The victim was found in her own room after the Police broke down the door of her home.
Sources have said that there were several stab wounds on her body but so far the Police remain mum about the case.
