State Electric Company Stelco has formed a special team to further enhance the services the utility company is providing.
The team headed by Managing Director Ahmed Shareef is part of the efforts to prevent disruption to services amid record electricity usage due to exceedingly warm temperatures across the country.
Stelco is working to educate the public on the changes to electricity bills as the country experiences its hottest days of the year.
It held special sessions on the subject yesterday. In the session, Stelco provided information on electricity bill changes, peak trending, the company's billing process, and other areas of relevance with technical experts sharing their knowledge.
Stelco has also decided to not lower the temperatures on all company air conditioners below 25 degrees Celcius to lower the peak load amid scorching temperatures.
It has also given all its employees the option to wear office uniform instead of official attire to work.
Maldives Meteorological Services have said that April will be hottest month of the year as it is the transition month between the two monsoons and as the winds weaken significantly and high humidity stagnates, the warm air temperature is exacerbated as the feel-like temperature.
