Long queue for food demonstrate the desperation of Pakistanis as making ends meet with depleting sources of income becomes increasingly difficult, according to reports.

Mismanagement recently hampered both government and private efforts to provide food to those in need, as seen in Friday's fatal stampede in Karachi.

The event occurred infront of a factory near the Naurus intersection in Karachi's SITE district.

On Friday, hundreds of women and children had congregated to receive food assistance and zakat that the factory's owner was distributing when the stampede occurred, killing at least 12 people.

The local government and the police both say that the organizers did not follow the rules.

However, the state's attempts could not have been more poorly planned. A number of individuals have died at formal free flour distribution events in Punjab and KP, and trucks have been looted in KP.

People have frequently complained about officials' hands being greased or individuals with "connections" obtaining flour, according to reports.

It's also upsetting to see women and the elderly being pushed and shoved while standing in queue for a few flour sacks for hours on end.

According to the Pakistan papers, there have been multiple stampede incidents across Pakistan as a result of the unorganized distribution of free flour.
