Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed has voiced concern over MPs withdrawing their questions for cabinet ministers after submitting their requests.
This comes after the MP for Nolhivaram Constituency Mohamed Nasheed withdrew his questions for Home Minister Imran Abdullah after it was put on the Majlis agenda for today.
Announcing the agenda for today's session, Speaker Nasheed said that MP Nasheed had withdrawn his questions about the Yoga case last night.
The Speaker further said that MP Nasheed had repeated this on several occasions and had withdrawn his questions at the last minute.
Nasheed said that this denies other MPs their chance to ask questions to the Ministers who are summoned to the floor.
The Speaker said many MPs have requested to question the cabinet minister and currently there are around 20 questions in queue.
Nasheed called on the MPs to be mindful about the legislative house rules on such matters when acting in this manner.
