Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed has confirmed that Police have apprehended one of the individuals suspected to have been involved in a stabbing incident in Male' on Friday.
A 30-year-old local man was injured in the incident that happened at a store in Maafanu Ward of Male'.
Social media video of the incident showed that the victim has suffered a heavy gash on his neck and that he had blood all over his body.
The video showed individuals trying to control the wound on his neck while it also showed a knife on the victim's belt.
Sources have said that the man was attacked by two assailants traveling on a motorbike and that they had entered the store to stab the victim.
Earlier today, Commissioner Hameed confirmed via Twitter that one of the suspects in the crime has been arrested and that the individual was arrested last night.
He said that the suspect was arrested under a court order. The Commissioner used the hashtag gang-violence in his tweet alluding that the police believed that this crime was gang-related.
The victim of the crime remains in critical condition and Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital said yesteday that the man was being treated on the ventilator.
