Former Chairperson of MDP Reeko Moosa Manik has called on party members to expel party President and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed from the party.
Moosa's call came after accusations against Nasheed that he was trying to form a seperate branch within MDP to promote his own political agenda and slogan.
But MDP's constitution does allow party members to form branches to promote political agendas within the party and Nasheed and his team is now working to form a different faction to promote his 'Fikureh ge Dhirun' (Rebirth of an ideology) agenda.
Tweeting about this, Reeko Moosa said that MDP has already ensured that Nasheed would get a allowance for the rest of his life. He questioned whether Nasheed is now trying to show support for him within the party before he looses the Speaker of the Parliament post.
He called on MDP to expel Nasheed and tagged President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the tweet.
Nasheed began the work to create his own branch after he lost the Party's Presidential Primary to President Solih last Saturday by a margine of nearly 9,000 votes.
