Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says it is clear from President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's trip to the Northern islands that he has no support in the region.

Nasheed's comments came after President Solih received a cold reception from certain islands in the north including Haa Dhaalu Kulhudufushi, Haa Alifu Ihavndhoo, and Haa Alifu Dhidhoo.

Speaking on his trip to Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadhehdhoo on his campaign trial, Speaker Nasheed said that President Solih must step aside from his duties as he is competing in the MDP Primary.

Nasheed further said that it would now have become clear to the President that Nasheed would win the Primary.

The Speaker also called on MDP members acting as government ministers, vice ministers, heads of companies, and other political parties to join him.

He noted that Ministers and heads of State Owned Enterprises must not differentiate between him and the President as both are competing in the Primary.

This comes after the Managing Director of STO Hussain Amr joined Nasheed on his campaign trip to the Southern Atolls of Gaafu Dhaalu and Gaafu Alifu.

Amr is the first head of a State Owned Enterprise to join Nasheed on his campaign trail while most of the cabinet ministers and other heads of SOEs have been seen at President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's campaign events.
