President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says everyone knows who is always after the Presidency and is willing to change the system to come into power.

He made the comments in an indirect comment aimed at the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed as the competition between the two heats up ahead of the MDP Primary scheduled for later this month.

The President's criticism came after Nasheed said that President Solih would change the constitution in order to secure a 3rd presidential term for himself. Nasheed said this at a campaign rally in Baa Atoll Hithaadhoo.

Speaking at a campaign meeting in Hulhumale' last night, President Solih said that Nasheed wants to change the system in order to come into power and that he wants to be elected as the Prime Minister after the system change.

Responding to Nasheed's comments that he had helped President Solih win back in 2018, President Solih said that the Presidency cannot be given by just one person.

He said that it was by the grace of God and by the hard work of many that he was able to secure the Presidency in the last election.

The long-term friends and colleagues are deeply involved in campaign activities ahead of the MDP Primary scheduled for 28th January.
