Police say they are making arrangements to send the body of 28-year-old Nishama Ahmed abroad for a postmortem after she was found dead last Saturday under suspicious circumstances.
Nishaama, who was believed to be a victim of domestic abuse, was found dead in her home in Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaram by members of her family.
Police said that Nishaama's body has now been brought to Male' and that they were making arrangements to send the body abroad.
Authorities had earlier arrested Nishaama's husband Faisal Abubakar who is suspected of killing his wife. The husband was arrested under a court order on Saturday night and had been remanded in custody for 15 more days.
It was reported that the suspect had traveled to Kulhudufushi to treat a toothache after the death of his wife.
The victim leaves behind three children and the family has been left devastated by the sudden loss.
