Housing Development Corporation HDC has signed contracts for the development of 5 schools in Phase II of Hulhumale'.
HDC said that four of these would be built by the government and signed for the land plots for these schools with Education Ministry.
The Corporation's Managing Director Ahmed Athif signed on behalf of HDC and the Senior Policy Director of the Education Ministry signed on behalf of the Ministry.
HDC said that the schools being built by the Ministry would be near the populated areas of Phase II and that the schools would be in the center of the populated areas. It said that the schools would be easily accessible to all the students living in the area.
The remaining school contract was awarded to Islanders Education.
HDC said that under this agreement, a British International School would be built in the Maldives for the first time.
It said that this school would be operated at an International Standard as per the schools under the Council of British International Schools.
HDC's Managing Director Athif signed the contract on its behalf and Chairman of Islanders Education Abdul Rasheed signed the contract on its behalf.
