The Court has ruled that the suspect arrested for attacking a man who was sleeping would be remanded in custody till the end of his trial.

Police arrested a 28-year-old local man for the attack that is believed to be gang-related.

The suspect was taken to the Criminal Court on the 18th of this month and was remanded in custody for five days.

Police once again took him to the Court at the end of the five days and the Court decided to remand him under custody for the whole trial of the case.

The victim was attacked while he was sleeping in a house in Male'.

Sources have said that the attack against the man came after violence between two rival gangs in the capital city.

They also said that the assailants had entered the house after breaking down its front door.
