President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has arrived in Meemu Atoll Raiymandhoo as he kicks off his 5-island trip to the Atolls today.
He received a warm welcome from the island with many lined up to greet him.
During his visit to the island, President Solih met with the council and WDC members of Raiymandhoo Island. The President's Office said that he held extensive discussions about the pertinent needs of the community at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the President assured the council members that the administration would seek ways to find amicable solutions to the concerns raised at the meeting, especially issues related to the harbor and coastal erosion.
The island’s representatives also shared some of the community’s concerns, including the challenges they face due to the lack of a good harbor, coastal erosion, and interruption of services at the laboratory in the healthcare center. They also spoke about challenges facing the education sector due to the low student population on the island.
The President had also met with the local community of the island.
In his meeting, he discussed the administration’s developmental plans for the island and inquired about their concerns.
A high-level government delegation, including cabinet members, accompanies the President on the visit. At the meeting, the cabinet ministers briefed the islands’ representatives about the administration’s developmental plans for the island.
President would now continue on to Maduvvari, Dhiggaru, Veyvah, and Muli Islands during his tour of the Meemu Atoll. He is set to conclude the trip next Monday.
