President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has said that more than 14,000 students have been given higher education opportunities under the government's flagship free degree program.

He made these remarks while speaking at the "Top Achievers' Award 2020-2021" ceremony last night.

The President said that 14,930 students have been given the opportunity to seek a higher education under the free degree program.

President Solih further said that the current administration has issued student loans to 1986 students and that around 468 students are currently pursuing their higher education on scholarships in 20 different countries.

Noting that there are many opportunities in front of the students, the President assured that the government is doing all it can to make sure the students can achieve their dreams and would continue to do so.

The President also spoke about the importance of providing the opportunity for the students to deliver results and service to the nation. He also noted the achievements of the administration's decentralization policies and called on students to consider working and serving the country in their home islands, closer to their parents and families.

The President also spoke about the administration's initiatives to modernize and advance the education sector.
