Former Communications Director at the Foreign Minister Miuvaan Mohamed has been appointed as the Presidential Spokesperson.

Miuvaan was appointed as the Presidential Spokesperson after his predecessor Mohamed Mabrook Azeez resigned from his post yesterday.

The President's Office had confirmed to 'The Press' that it had appointed Miuvaan as the President's spokesperson.

He had been acting as the Communications Director at the Foreign Minister till July of this year.

He attained his postgraduate diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership from the College of Engineering & Business Studies, Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Mabrook today took to Twitter to further explain his decision to step away from the post. Mabrook said that it has now been a few months since he informed President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih of his intention and has been planning for this transition with his guidance.

He thanked the President for entrusting him with carrying the President's message to the public. Mabrook said that the office has been a place of growth and many invaluable experiences that he will carry with him for the rest of his life.
