MDP has decided to take off the resolution submitted by its president Mohamed Nasheed on the governance system change from the voting agenda at its 4th congress.

The resolution was taken off the agenda without a debate after Nasheed held sideline discussions with President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and decided to hold more discussions on the resolution.

Addressing the members of the congress, Nasheed said that he was putting the work to pass the resolution on hold for now.

I think for now we should keep the resolution here as it is and have discussions with President Solih and other party members to find the best solution for all.

This came after confusion at the end of the 3-day congress when a source close to Nasheed confirmed to the media that he had decided to take back the resolution but Nasheed himself denied this while speaking to journalists outside the congress hall.

Nasheed put a pin on his system change plans after President Solih had previously called on him to take back the resolution stating the country need to work on more pressing issues.
