Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says resort staff can now go back to their homes once their duties end.
He said this while speaking at MDP's congress that kicked off last night.
Highlighting the achievements of the government, Nasheed said that the administration has set the minimum wage and made it possible for resort staff to go back to their homes to spend their night with their families.
He also said that resort staff can now fully receive their service charges too.
Nasheed added almost all resort staff can now take home around USD 700.
Even if the speaker said this, many resort employees are still complaining that they cannot go to their families and that many resorts are not giving off days too.
Allowing resort staff to come back to their homes after finishing their duties and receiving full-service charges are two of the current government's pledges.
