Human Rights Commission of the Maldives HRCM says a total of 391 cases were filed at the Commission in the first six months of this year.
HRCM statistics show that out of the 391 cases filed till July of this year, the commission had investigated and closed 361 cases.
The Commission further said that along with other pending cases, HRCM was currently investigating a total of 577 cases.
It said that out of these, 35 cases were in the duty prosecution stage and that two cases have now reached the court stage.
Looking at different laws, HRCM said that it had received 51 cases filed under the anti-torture act 2013.
HRCM also said that 340 cases were filed under its own Act and that it had closed 341 cases in the first 6 months of this year.
The Commission added that it was still investigating 525 cases along with other pending cases.
