Maldives Meteorological Services, the Met Office says strong monsoon conditions are likely to persist over northern and central atolls during the next 36 hours.
It said that this meant strong winds, rough seas, and the possibility of wave surges were expected over northern and central Atolls during the next two days.
The Met Office also said that fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms will be experienced over the country.
It advised all and particularly seafarers to take necessary precautions in the next few days.
The Met Office further advised all to take preventive measures to minimize damages caused by flooding due to storm surges and heavy rain.
This year's monsoon season has become rather destructive in the Maldives as the country faced damaging weather conditions the whole of last month.
Several houses on 9 islands suffered damage during the bad weather bout earlier last month including storm surges and floods.
The National Disaster Management Authority NDMA said that farmers had suffered the most during the natural disaster and that 110 farms had sustained damage during the spell of bad weather and wave surges.
NDMA said that farmlands in Madaveli, Fiyoree, Hoadehdhoo, and Thimarafushi had sustained damages.
