Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC has introduced 2 new bus routes for the Greater Male' Area.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih launched the new bus routes at a ceremony held in Hulhumale's Phase II last night.

MTCC said that with this change bus services would now be able for 9 routes instead of 6 in the Greater Male' area.

The Company also said that the direct buses from Hulhumale' Phase II to Male' would now be more frequent and that at peak hours there would be buses every 15 minutes. MTCC added that during off-peak hours the buses would come every 20 minutes.

MTCC further said that it had 15 more double-decker buses to its growing fleet of buses and now the fleet boasts an impressive 46 buses.

The Company said that customers would be charged MVR 15 for the new bus routes and that customers can continue to use existing bus cards for these routes as well.

MTCC said that it believes these changes would further improve the public transport experience for the citizens of the Greater Male Area and especially those living in Hulhumale' Phase II, an area still sparsely populated with limited essential services.
