Parliament's Committee on Member’s Privileges and Ethics have decided to probe the May 6th attack accusations made by Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed against the MP for Henveiru Hulhangu constituency Hussain Shaheem.

Nasheed has accused MP Hussain of assisting the government to cover up the May 6th attack against the speaker. Nasheed had made the accusations in messages to a WhatsApp group consisting of parliamentarians.

This prompted MP Hussain to submit a letter to the Parliamentary Committee on Member’s Privileges and Ethics saying that Nasheed's comments violated his rights.

MP Hussain also said that Nasheed's accusations might put his life in danger as well.

After considering MP Hussain's appeal, the Committee decided to further probe the accusations with seven out of 8 MPs who took part in the meeting supporting the decision.

In response, MP Hussain said that he was not leading the investigations into the attack against Nasheed, either JSC or the parliament must probe if the investigations were stagnated.
