Defense Minister Maria Ahmed Didi says the fact that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's Defense Minister is a woman shows how much the President trusts women.

She said this in an article published on the 130th Anniversary of Maldives National Defense Force MNDF. In the article titled 'From the Minister's Pen', Minister Maria highlighted the Presidential Address given by President Solih earlier this year at the parliament.

Minister Maria noted that President Solih had mentioned that his most important responsibility as the chief of the nation is to safeguard the country's freedom and sovereignty and guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for the Maldivian people.

The Defense Minister said that in the last three years, the MNDF had achieved numerous accomplishments and that this includes establishing gender equality within the ranks of the armed forces.

She said that women soldiers have achieved notable triumphs that have never been seen before.

The Minister added that all these accomplishments were possible because of the special treatment shown to the armed forces by the President.
