Police have today removed the huge 'IndiaOut' banner hanging outside opposition leader Abdullah Yameen's house in Male'.

They said that the banner was removed under a court order issued by the Criminal Court. Unconfirmed sources have said that the court issued the order shortly after morning prayers earlier this morning.

Police had removed the banners outside former President Yameen's residence as well as the banners hanging outside the opposition's office on Bodu Thakurufaanu Magu.

Police had said earlier that putting on banners that read "India Out" is disrespectful to one individual nation and can affect the international diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had today issued a presidential decree calling for the halt of the anti-India campaign saying that it had been deemed as a threat to national security by the National Security Council.
