Maldives Ports Limited MPL has cleared 150 containers in two days as it looks to further enhance operations.
MPL said that it was prioritizing perishable cargo including onion, potato, eggs as well as other vegetables and fruits.
It said that MPL had cleared 60 containers on Sunday and an additional 90 on Monday.
MPL said that on Sunday it had cleared 33 containers measuring 20 ft and 27 containers measuring 40 ft and that they were cleared from Male' Commercial Harbour and Hulhumale' container terminal.
Yesterday, MPL had cleared a total of 90 containers which includes 48 containers measuring 20 ft and 42 containers measuring 40 ft.
The perishable cargo cleared yesterday includes 12 bags of beetroot, 498 bags of watermelon, 20 boxes of pineapple, 14 bags of Brinjal as well as 240 bags of pumpkin.
MPL had said that it would operate from 09:00 am to 01:00 pm to clear perishable items as soon as possible.
It had also said that if a ship arrives on Friday with perishable cargo, it would make arrangements to clear the items on that day too.
