Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC CEO Adam Azim says the company is working to launch minibus services in Male' around September of this year.
He made the comments while speaking on a program aired by Raaje TV.
Azim said that the Transport Ministry had informed MTCC that it had now secured the budget that would be required to begin minibus services in the capital.
He said that MTCC hoped that it would be able to sign the contract for the project this month but insisted that MTCC had begun the initial work for the project even without signing the contract.
Azim added that the minibus services would be launched before the 3rd quarter of this year.
MTCC was tasked with establishing minibus services in Male' back in 2019 and the transport ministry had said that the traffic congestion in the capital would be resolved once it is launched.
