Health Protection Agency HPA has placed Haa Alifu Ihavandhoo under monitoring following the spread of COVID-19 on the island.

Sources have confirmed that 26 houses on the island are currently under quarantine due to the spread of the pandemic on the island.

Ihavandhoo joins another 11 islands currently under HPA monitoring following the spread of the illness on the islands.

Meemu Mulak had been under monitoring the longest after the island was placed under the status on October 20, 2021.

The rest of the islands on the list were placed under monitoring last month.

These include Dhaalu Kuda Huvadhoo, Noonu Landhoo, Thaa Vilufushi, Gaafu Dhaalu Vaadhoo, Kaafu Thulusdhoo, Haa Dhaalu Navaidhoo, Haa Dhaalu Navaidhoo, Dhaalu Hulhudheli, Gaafu Dhaalu Hoadhedhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhoo, and Kaafu Maafushi.

This comes as the number of daily cases being reported from the inhabited islands had been steadily increasing with HPA confirming 344 cases from the islands in the last five days.
