Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 123 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Tuesday.
HPA said that out of the 123 new cases, 87 were reported from inhabited islands and that 19 were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area. It also said that 17 new cases were confirmed from operational resorts.
The new cases take the total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the country to a staggering 90,944.
The Agency noted that the number of active cases in the country has now fallen to 1,968 with 19 COVID patients currently hospitalized for further treatment.
HPA had said that more than 88,700 people have now recovered from the illness in the Maldives.
The COVID-19 global pandemic has claimed the lives of 248 people in the Maldives. Most of those who had succumbed to the illness include elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
