Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 124 new cases of COVID-19 in the country taking the total cases well above 90,700.

HPA said that out of the 124 new cases 91 were confirmed from inhabited islands while 25 reported from the Greater Male' Area. HPA also said that 8 cases were confirmed from operational resorts.

This takes the total number of cases to a staggering 90,725 with more than 2,900 cases reported so far this month.

HPA said that currently there are 2,030 active cases of COVID in the country and that 12 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.

The Agency also said that 88,434 people have now recovered from the illness in the country.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has killed 248 individuals in the Maldives with mostly elderly locals with underlying health conditions succumbing to the illness in the country.

But few younger individuals had also died due to the fast-spreading illness.
