Health Protection Agency HPA has reported another 124 new cases of COVID-19 in the country on Friday.
HPA said that out of the 124 new cases, 87 were confirmed from the inhabited islands while 20 were reported from the Greater Male' Area. HPA also said that 17 new cases were reported from operational resorts.
The Agency noted that the new cases have taken the total number of cases reported in the country to 90,464.
HPA also said that 2,084 COVID cases remained as active cases of the pandemic and that the number of COVID patients hospitalized for further treatment has now reached 16.
It said that 88,119 people have recovered from the COVID-19 illness.
The global pandemic has killed 248 individuals in the Maldives, mostly elderly locals with underlying health conditions.
HPA had also said that the total number of cases includes 13 deceased positives whose cause of death is not directly due to COVID-19.
