Unconfirmed reports have said that an MNDF soldier had been held for ransom in Male' last night.
Media reports citing the victim's family said that the soldier was abducted by a group of masked men last night around 11:30 pm and that he was abducted near Ace Hardware in Maafannnu Ward.
The reports also said that the soldier had been beaten up by his abductors and then had been dumped near IGMH earlier this morning after their ransom demands were not met.
The family of the victim also said that a group of 7 people had committed the abduction and that they had all worn masks.
Meanwhile, Police had said that a man had been taken to IGMH earlier this morning with various injuries.
Police added that they were now investigating the matter and stopped short of revealing the extent of the man's injuries.
The number of abductions and kidnappings has increased in the country in recent months.
